Acting scholarships

At RADA (Royal Academy of Dramatic Art), The Trust offers £5,000 bursaries to 2 acting students in their final year of study, on the basis of financial need. A similar amount is shared between one or two students in the earlier years of their course. Past recipients have included James Norton, Rosie Sheehy and Asif Khan.

At LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art), a similar arrangement is in effect, with £5,000 bursaries awarded to 2 final year acting students, and another shared between students earlier in their academic course. Past recipients have included Callum Woodhouse and Fred Haig. An additional scholarship is awarded to an American student as a result of an annual matching gift from Mr Carne’s former US employer, Johnson & Johnson.

At the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, £5000 scholarships are awarded annually to two final year acting students. Both students are selected by the College on the basis of talent. Past recipients have included Emily Barber and Tom Rhys Harries.
